Jack, taking his. By the time we got to Sliderock, we've hiked nearly 20 miles over the last couple of days. Which isn't really a lot, but if you're a dog that's been living soft in the city for a while and you don't have any callouses yet, the hard granite boulders take their toll. Here we noticed that Jack's pad's are bleeding. No wonder he didn't do much running around...

And here's me, w/ Jack (Jack is giving me all kinds of pointers on how to fish, and then looking at me quizzically like, 'Come on here! What's the holdup???'). BTW - Taehoo took this shot, as well as the two preceding it.

Jack on the other hand takes a couple of swims and then says, "Dang! This water is cold dad, brrrrrrrr...." Jack is very smart, but a wee bit wimpy. Strider on the other hand, is very brave, but a wee bit...brainless. In the best labradorian sense of the word, of course.

Nice picture of Jack, enjoying the snow...

So yesterday, Jack and I went for a walk, from our house, down towards the river (less than a half mile away). This is a back channel which would be fun to skate on (although its got a couple of inches of snow on it right now). Amazing how much beauty is within the city limits of Missoula...

The dogs are just bummed that they're outside rather than in (especially since it's starting to snow!). I sure like this picture of Jack... Posted by Picasa
Even though it took a couple of hours to drag Malachi's deer back to the car, we were still home by 10 AM on Thanksgiving day, and who was there to great us, but Jack and Strider! Hey guys, did you miss us??? Posted by Picasa
Later in the afternoon, with Jack riding in the back of Jake's truck while I'm going to pick them up. I've played with the darkness a bit, bringing out the colors a bit more (almost too much), but I really like this shot... Posted by Picasa
Naturally, Jack and Strider want to be part of the action. They can't actually go along when we hunt deer, but they can sit in the back of the truck and watch the proceedings in the garage... Posted by Picasa

While we broke down the tents, Jack dug himself a little bed to cool his sore feet.

Jack, meanwhile just lounged around getting stiff. Nothing an Advil won't take care of though...

And one more shot of Jack

Jack, the stud dog #2 (seriously, we actually DO want to stud him out. He's got 5 field champions in his lineage, and we'd think he'd breed some dandy pups...)

Malachi and Jack, posing for the camera

A nice shot of Jack, who came along with us.

Jack: "Hey, look! You guys didn't really MEAN to throw away that apple core did you? Look, I brought it back for you!!!"

Me and Jack

Monday, August 22, 2005

Hey, look at that! Taehoo caught his first fish! Woo hoo! (Notice that even Jack is impressed)
